License and Permit Forms

Per Chapter 11, Article A of the City of Marion Code, all electrical contractors must obtain an electrical contractor’s license through the City of Marion.

It is recommended that you contact the City Clerk’s office at 618.997.6281 prior to coming in to be sure you submit all required documentation.

First time applicants are required to complete an exam.  This will need to be scheduled with the Building and Code Services department.  Please contact them at 618.993.2422 for further information.

The following is a list of items that may be required:

• Proof business and licensing
• Surety bond in the amount of $20,000.00
• Fees required per city ordinance

Please complete the following steps to obtain a liquor license:

• Complete the Liquor License Application
• Complete the background check via HireImage
• Provide proof of Liquor Liability Insurance
• Pay fees associated with your license

Please complete the following steps to obtain a raffle license:

• Please complete the Raffle Application
• Return application and fee to City Clerk’s office

Please complete the following steps to obtain a license:

• Please complete the Tattoo and Body Piercing Application
• Return application and fee to City Clerk’s office

Please complete the following steps to obtain a taxicab license:

• Please complete the Taxicab Application
• Return application and fee to City Clerk’s office

Please complete the following steps to obtain a Coin Operating Machine Permit:

• Complete the Coin Operating Machines Application
• Return application and fee to the City Clerk’s office

Please complete the following steps to obtain a Door-to-Door Solicitors Permit:

• Complete the Door-to-Door Solicitors Application
• Return application and required documentation as stated in ordinance to the City Clerk’s office

**All authorized gaming licenses are currently in use.  If you choose to apply, your application will be added to the waitlist.**

Please complete the following steps to operate a video gaming establishment:

• Complete the Video Gaming Establishment Application or Tax Exempt Video Gaming Establishment Application 
• Complete the Video Gaming Terminal Operator Application or Tax Exempt Gaming Terminal Operator Application
• Return application, a copy of your Video Gaming Establishment Annual License Certificate issued by the Illinois Gaming Board and all fees to the City Clerk’s Office

Please complete the following steps to obtain a Massage Establishment Permit:

• Complete the Massage Establishment Application
• Complete the background check via HireImage
• Return application and required documentation as state on Page 3 of the application to the City Clerk’s office

Please complete the following steps to obtain an Oversized/Overweight Moving Permit:

• Complete the Move Oversize and Overweight Loads form
• Return form to the City Clerk’s office

Anyone planning to operate a food truck within the City of Marion, must provide the City Clerk’s office with the following information:

• Provide date, time and location
• Written permission from property owner
• Provide food handling certifications from Bi-County Health Department
• Provide Certificate of Liability Insurance
• Copy of Illinois Business Tax Number (Sales Tax Number)

Please submit the Occupancy Tax Report to the City Clerk.

Please complete the following steps to register your hotel:

• Complete the Hotel Certificate of Registration
• Return to City Clerk’s office

• Return form and your certificate of insurance to City Clerk’s office
