The Marion Police Department is currently accepting applications for Full-Time 911 Dispatchers.  To apply please complete a City of Marion Application and return to the Marion Police Department, Dispatch window.
  • Starting salary per FOP CBA – $21.87 per hour

  • Residency requirement is 20 miles straight line GPS from Marion City Hall located at 1102 Tower Square Plaza, Marion, Illinois 62959 within 18 months of hire date if not already within that range.
  • Applicants will undergo a 2 hour computerized test that will determine a person’s typing skills, memory recall, knowledge of directions, as well as the ability to multitask.
  • This is a fast paced, high stress environment within a team setting.
  • This department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including holidays.
  • Shift is 4, 10 hour shifts and include days, evenings, midnights or any combination thereof.  At times, overtime is mandatory.

Seasonal Employee

Description: This position is a seasonal, non-benefit position working up to 1,000 hours.

Essential Functions:

  • Mowing, weed eating, tree trimming
  • Painting
  • Power washing
  • Litter pick up and disposal
  • Responds to inquiries from the public and staff, including occasional contact with distressed citizens
  • Performs related work as assigned by the Superintendent or Lead Man
  • Demonstrates regular and reliable attendance during all scheduled work hours

General Working Conditions:

  • Required to work outside in all elements of the weather
  • Must be able to operate all light and heavy equipment in accordance with all department standards
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks; including bending, jumping, standing, climbing

Qualifications:  Must have a valid driver’s license and pass all pre-employment screening which includes a background check, physical examination and drug screening.

Compensation and Hours of Work:  $15.50 per hour. Typical schedule is Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
