Cemetery

In 1882, then Mayor L.A. Goddard and the city council purchased over ten acres of land to the north of Marion for a city cemetery. In 1884 work began on this beautiful cemetery that houses one of the five buildings on the National Registry of Historic Places, The Goddard Chapel, as pictured above.  The city continues to manage and maintain the cemetery grounds and buildings with the utmost care.
