Lead a small staff while achieving the following duties:
Develops code enforcement policies and procedures
Develops strategies and processes that streamline the building process, nuisance abatement, and ongoing occupancy inspections
Works alongside contractors, developers, and the general public while providing a professional experience throughout the building process
Develops recommendations of corrective action in order to encourage compliance
Coordinates corrective actions with other City departments and other governmental agencies when necessary.
Consults and coordinates activities with the Mayor, City Attorney, Chief of Staff, Department heads and other City staff.
Receive and respond to citizen complaints and departmental information regarding violations of zoning and code violations.
Conduct field investigations, property inspections, make recommendations, and post warning notices or personal contact of infractions committed.
Maintain accurate documentation and case files on inspections, enforcement actions and other job-related activities.
Assist in researching, drafting, rewriting municipal codes; help develop policies and strategies utilized to encourage compliance.
Have the ability to verbally communicate and exchange information.
Have a demonstrable record of coaching a small team
Have a “bedside manner” when interacting with our constituents
Special preference will be given to individuals who hold the following certificates with the International Code Council:
Certified Building Official
Commercial/Residential Building Inspector
Building Code Specialist/Master Code Professional
Building/Residential Plans Examiner
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $55,000.00 to $75,000.00 /year
Supervisor: 3 years (Preferred)
Building Inspection: 5 years (Preferred)
