Construction of the City of Marion 6” watermain loop, high service water pumps, pump building, emergency power generator, painting and repairing the elevated water storage tank and necessary appurtenances for the water distribution system will commence soon.
These projects were partially financed by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency Public Water Supply Loan, State Revolving Fund (SRF) in the amount of $1,491,000. In accordance with the Procedures for Issuing Loans from the Public Water Supply Loan Program, $800,000 of the loan amount will be forgiven by the State of Illinois.
The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Once complete, this project will replace aging infrastructure, improve water distribution capacity, maintain and improve water storage quality for the residents and businesses of the City of Marion. SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: water.
